Green Fence Farm raises German Angora rabbits. These are the largest of the Angora rabbits and, in our opinion, the easiest to raise. The breed was developed in Germany (no surprises there) to provide wool for the commercial angora industry. They do not shed naturally as do French and English Angoras and must be sheared every three months. They yield between 2-4 pound of matt-free angora wool a year with little or no grooming.

German Angora Rabbits
100% Germans (not to be confused with “Giants,” a show breed) are albinos with pure white coats and pink eyes. They look exactly like rabbits magicians pull out of hats.  German crosses come in a variety of colors and patterns all based on a genetic stew I have yet to figure out. Yarn spun out of angora is 7 times warmer than sheeps’ wool and about 200,000 times lighter and softer (OK, that is based on my unscientific survey of myself but this stuff is amazing!).
