YARN

Our yarns are made primarily from our Icelandic sheep's wool, with German Angora rabbit clipped fiber added occasionally for warmth, shine, and fluff. The colors are all natural – no dyes, synthetic or otherwise. And natural colors are so much more interesting and textured than those flat dyes – all sorts of shades and depth. The colors – and the fact that I can never remember year to year what blends I produced – means the yarns you buy here are totally unique. No one will show up at the office Christmas party wearing the same handknitted scarf as you.

All of our yarn skeins are 250 yards – this is about 2 x the size of your traditional yarn store skein, so take that into consideration before you wander off mumbling about our outrageous prices.

NEW! NEW! NEW!

Our 2007 Wool Yarns and Roving are in!!

We have two new sport weight yarns from '07.

The first 07 yarn is the LASTOO BLEND after our moorit spotted ewe, queen of the flock. This is the ewe who baits our 135 pound guard pyrs by eating, and pretending to enjoy, their food. She loves a fight, hasn't met a gate she can't bust (she only stays on our farm because she so enjoys torturing the dogs), and has produced a long line of equally tart, independent sheep. Don't you want to wear something made out of yarn with that sort of attitude? And despite that attitude, the yarn is soft and knits to a lovely, romantically blurred tweed). Each skein is single ply, sport weight, 250 yards and around 6 ounces.  $25.00/extremely generous skein.

Our other 07 yarn is the RASTA BLEND. She is a black and white spotted sheep, brash, forward, fierce. Her yarn is a tweedy black, as appropriate for high fashion knitwear as it is for a cap for Dad. Again, Each skein is single ply, sport weight, 250 yards and around 6 ounces.  $25.00/extremely generous skein

Our 07 roving is a white/moorit 100% Green Fence Farm Icelandic blend. Soft, versatile, incredibly easy to spin (the long outer coat catches the cashmere like undercoat to make a durable, yet soft yarn). $3/ounce.

ANGORA FIBER

Our clipped, prime German Angora rabbit fiber comes in a variety of colors and packed carefully in one ounce bags (you would not believe how much fiber it takes to make one ounce of this stuff!). $6/ounce with the following colors available now:ang2ang1

WHITE

CHOCOLATE CHINCHILLA

LILAC (only one ounce left at this time)

CHOCOLATE

CHINCHILLA (BROWNISH GRAY)

BLACK (DARK GRAY)

We also offer white, black/gray (mixture of chinchilla and black), and light brown (mixture of chocolate and chocolate chinchilla) wool suitable for felting. This is the fiber that didn't make the first cut (har har) – either it had some mats, or the staple length was a bit short, or it is the baby rabbit's first clip, or it just wasn't perfect). It does perfectly for your felting projects: $3/ounce

CASHMERE

cash

Ah yes, fiber gold. We have lovely prime cashmere, in clouds (like roving, only cloudier), cleaned and dehaired for $12/ounce. The picture does not do it justice. It is as soft as, well, cashmere.

OTHER WOOL

White Icelandic Sheep/German Angora blend:  By popular demand: lovely white wool mixed with our even lovelier white clipped angora for a spinner's deream -- warmth, shine, and fullness of angora with the memory and spinning easy of Icelandic: $5/ounce.

Moorit/White (and silver and tan) blend: From our 2007 shearing (see the yarns above to get an idea how it spins up).  Easy to spin, soft, and clean.  $3.50/ounce.

Moorit: This roving is soft with very little VM. I love it and want to felt it into purses, and hats, and gloves. I’ve got plans! So don’t buy it. $3/ounce.

White: Not as nice as the moorit. I just don’t think our white sheep are conditioning enough. Still good stuff to dye. It is as soft as the moorit, just a little more dingy, the unattractive girlfriend that the real stunners always run around with. But it is a good deal. $2/ounce.
